Citi to double private bankers over several years

Citigroup plans to double the number of private bankers over the next several years, from 130 to 260, Citi Private Bank’s North America chief executive Peter Charrington told Dow Jones Newswires.

Citi’s (NYSE: C) private bank targets clients worth at least $25 million to invest.

“We have 22 locations in North America and will add selectively by putting talent in key markets,” Charrington told Dow Jones.

In San Francisco, Tracey Warson joined Citi Private Bank last month as managing director and West Coast regional executive.

Warson is well known in Bay Area finance, having held senior positions in private banking at Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC) and Bank of America (NYSE: BAC).

“I’m confident that with Tracey leading our West Coast business, we will attract some of the finest talent throughout the region and that she and her team will expand our business exponentially,” Charrington said in announcing that Warson had joined Citi Private Bank.

Citibank leads market share in the Sacramento region, with 34.02 percent of the area's deposits, largely from the state of California.
